Lash Retention Help

Clean Daily

It is very important to cleanse your lashes daily to ensure clean lashes. Dirt, dust, eye buggers, dry skin, etc. get in your lashes on a daily and can clog your eye ducts as well as lash loss and sty’s. Any build up on the lash line will block the follicle leading to lash loss or an over production of bacteria which can lead to an infection, dry, irritated or lash mite infection.

Sleeping/ Showering

Sleeping on your face I know it is very hard to control your but rubbing your face along the pillow can cause the lashes to fall out or get contorted. I always suggest a silk pillowcase as it will cause less friction on your skin and prevent irritation or damage to your hair.

Don’t put your face directly under the showerhead. This can as well loosen the bond of the extension and cause them to pop off or damage the follicle. The heavy weight and pressure of the water can also cause them to pop off. DO NOT brush the lashes when wet, make sure you low dry them first at an arms length distance on low heat.

Brush Daily

This is a must! Brushing your lashes will prevent tangling.

No rubbing, picking or pulling on your lashes. Constant touching of the lashes can loosen the bond of the extension and cause them to pop off.

Misc.

Avoid excess heat, ovens, BBQ, fire pits, and steam. Lash extensions can catch on fire. Heat will make them singe and curl unable to be brushed in return causing them to need to be removed and a fullset be reapplied. Ovens can be your worst enemy. Carefully open the oven and let the heat escape before sticking your head into the heat. Avoid steam rooms and steamy showers as the steam can cause the lashes to loose its curl.

Medications, fish oil, and allergies can all affect your lashes.

There are many medications that can affect hair loss. Most common one is thyroid medications. Also, fish oil does aid in healthy hair, it, unfortunately, is not good for lash extensions. Fish oil enhances sebum production, which makes skin super soft, especially mature skin, but it causes the hair follicle to produce more oil. It adds excess oil to the hair gland causing the oil to break down the glue and the extensions can glide right off. Who doesn’t have seasonal allergies? Allergies can cause hair loss, itchy eyes and rubbing eyes. You can’t avoid hair loss so you will need fills more regularly than others.

Avoid any face sprays such as airbrush, makeup setting spray, toner, sunscreen, etc. Most sprays have oils or chemicals in them that can break down the glue, which means your lash extensions will not last. Oils- Avoid at all cost around the eye area. Oils immediately break down the glue and cause the extensions to fall off.
